"If you write FOR a particular market or FOR a particular editor you will often miss the mark. But if you write because your fingers have danced across the keyboard, because a character has tapped you on the shoulder, because a story has settled in your heart, then even if you never sell it you have done the work you were meant to do. And sometime, dear readers, real magic happens." Jane Yolen

Today is for writing - LONGHAND

Yup - it's that time of the month again. The first Tuesday of the month is my tech-free day.

But today is also the first day of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). And I'm participating for the first time. So, in addition to my regular bit of monthly cleaning (a few things that don't need to be dealt with too often), I'll be attempting to get some serious writing done on my "replotted" biblical fiction book set during the time of King Saul - with a pen and paper. For the unfamiliar, the goal is to write 50,000 words during the month of November. So I'm starting longhand.

See you back here soon. Oh, and by the way, X is for "I'm Xtra glad this letter fell on my Tech-free Tuesday!" LOL

  1. Cheater! But I did the same thing with my post: Xcited!

I changed careers midlife, and while going to school, did not own a laptop. I was able to do homework on my job during the night shift, and I wrote everything out, then later put necessary stuff onto the desktop computer.Writing it out like that helped to retain the information!
