"If you write FOR a particular market or FOR a particular editor you will often miss the mark. But if you write because your fingers have danced across the keyboard, because a character has tapped you on the shoulder, because a story has settled in your heart, then even if you never sell it you have done the work you were meant to do. And sometime, dear readers, real magic happens." Jane Yolen

Brothers-Yet Strangers (Monday Manna for October 4)

The purpose of Monday Manna is to get together and get to know Christ more through His Word.

On the first and third Mondays of each month, anyone who wants to participate can post their thoughts on a specific verse--posted here at my blog on the Thursday before, to allow you to chew on it over the weekend. It doesn't have to be long -- just a few thoughts, a picture you feel helps express it, a poem, a short story, a devotional. Just post it on your blog on Mondayish (early OR late is fine, by the way!), then come back here and link up in the Linky Tools gadget that will be at the bottom of MY post at o'dark thirty that morning.

Had a bit of fun picking a verse for this Monday - sought the help of some of my Facebook friends. (Click here if you wanna see). I had some great ones to choose from, but ended up with this one I KNOW I never would have chosen if it hadn't been sent that way (thanks, Rita!)
Dear friend, you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers, even though they are strangers to you. 3 John 5
Looking forward to your thoughts on this. See you Monday! :)

Paving Rough Roads With God's Presence

  1. I couldn't resist taking a peek and that was a neat idea of picking scriptures. This one is definitely one those I would have probably overlooked. Should be interesting to read your thoughts. Have a great weekend.

  2. This is EXACTLY the type of Scripture I was praying for this afternoon! My lesson for the kids this Sunday is on the importance of relationship, community and fellowship with a church family.

I might just have some fresh, young, insight for you come Monday.

    Cat :)

  3. I've just read the chapter a few times in a few different versions. As much as I tried to make it fit my lesson, the answer was still, "No."

Doesn't mean I don't have thoughts, though. It's an awesome verse (and chapter) to study.

Thanks for stopping by. I would love to hear your thoughts - please share them!
